Strong Review
Off to the Stars, With Grief, Dread and Regret
I think this is a strong review of the movie "Interstellar" because of the comprehensive approach the author took. He payed attentions to details such as "I am sorry" and extracted the larger themes of grief, loss, dread, and regrets. He, without giving out too much plot spoilers, reviewed the film in terms of how Christopher Nolan used specific techniques to make the film he had in his mind possible on screen and how his imaginations and ambitious goals effected how the movie turned out to be-- an allegory of its own aspirations, an argument for grandeur, scale and risk, on screen and off. And so importantly he connected those technical elements to the core of the movies, the essence-- the emotions and message that it expresses-- making people see how the latter is achieved partly by the former. The review explored different aspects of the movie and thus showed us the complexity of it. The author ended the review with some light the movie shed on humanity-- a desire not only for adventure and novelty but also, in the end, for comfort.
